Key Issues for The City of Muncie

Imagine the possibilities...

I want my children and grandchildren to live and work in Muncie. That’s why we need to create an environment where all of our citizens have the opportunity to succeed. I’m running for mayor because I believe in our ability to create a brighter future, one that results in more people moving into Muncie than moving away from Muncie.

We are a community uniquely positioned to make this happen. We have a low cost of living with a workforce dedicated to hard work and perfection, a world-class university and access to interstate and transportations routes. We have neighborhoods where people care about the future of family and friends. We may never return to the Muncie of the past, but we can carve out a Muncie of the future that offers hope and opportunity to everyone.

  • ...when we work together to create and keep stable, living-wage jobs.
  • From day one, I will make sure the world knows that Muncie is open for business. We will remove the red tape that too often holds back workers and employers, provide incentives for companies that locate here and follow through on job-creation promises and make sure our existing businesses have every resource they need to expand and succeed. We are in a global economy, and I believe that Muncie workers and businesses can compete with anyone.

I’ve been listening to what businesses and workers are saying across Muncie. They want to see people set aside politics and work together to strengthen our economy with innovative partnerships and common-sense programs. Workers want an opportunity to compete for jobs that pay a living wage with benefits, while employers want a level playing field where government doesn’t hamper their growth with unreasonable demands and regulations. It’s not going to be easy, but I am confident we have the abilities and resources to again make Muncie the leading destination for good jobs and successful businesses.

  • ...when we work together to make our neighborhoods safer and more secure.

  • We have some of the best and most experienced public safety officials in Indiana, but they alone cannot make our neighborhoods safer. It’s going to take all of us to make a difference in fighting crime. I will begin a comprehensive community-based program that will allow concerned residents, community activists, businesses of all sizes and local officials to provide assistance to our public safety professionals who are on the front lines every day. We will find ways to secure modern equipment and world-class training to make sure that we stay a step ahead of those who would do harm to our community.
